Parenting: You’ve Reach us After Hours

I’m writing this after all five of my family members, including myself, was miserably, sick. Is there ever an end to what Mommy does or needs to get done?

Usually, by the end of the day, whatever “rope” I have left, isn’t always a happy nor patient one. So, wouldn’t it be awesome if you could close at the end of the day, even to your children?

Can you image a sign, message or policy that stated:

“You’ve reached us after advising hours, if this is an emergency please dial 9-1-1. Otherwise, we will be available tomorrow at 8 am.”

Exactly 8:05pm…

“I’m sorry, see I got off the clock 5 minutes ago, and so if you need something, get it yourself, otherwise, get with me in the morning.”

I think one of the best replies would have to be…

I’m sorry, Honey. Whining isn’t in our contract and a breach is a serious no-no, do you know what a “Breach of contract” is?

This, in a sense could work, when your kids become teens, but don’t think my infant, toddler and six your old would get the idea, just yet. But hey,  it’s a work in progress and I’m not giving up hope, one day, I will again, be reunited with sleep.

Oh man, love this idea. Would have been great when my kids were young. Adam is right though, once they start staying out later with friends and going off on their own, you can’t close down shop until they are home safe and sound. Screwed until we die? Yikes!

Won’t work when their teens. You’ve got curfews to deal with, worrying about their driving and all that fun stuff. I think we as parents are just screwed until we die.
