Unskinny: Zumba Almost Killed Me & The Fat Spray Tan

I think its time for another update on my Unskinny Series.

I have been eating awesomely and working out even better, but why wont this damn scale budge? I’m starting to think my body enjoys being fat. It’s probably the weather, its cold here and I need my blubber like Bill Cosby needs jello or another sweater. I have been at the same weight now for 2 weeks! Blah, says I.

I have learned a few new things! Eating protein after working out feeds your muscles. Pretty kewl, right? I just wish these bars I’m eating actually tasted like candy bars, but  that maybe a turn in the wrong direction.

A friend and I decided to try zumba at Gold’s Gym, they say you can burn up to 1000 calories in one hour and I believe it – because I almost died! I wanted to quit so bad, but right next to me was a way heavier chic and she had all the moves down and didn’t skip a beat. I’m realizing, I’m not just fat, I’m not in shape either and I’ll I can think is “ZOMBIES”. I think I’ll stick to cardio before I try another hour of that.

HERE’S AN EXAMPLE, BUT I SWEAR ITS HARDER THAN IT LOOKS!

I did get a spray tan! This was the first time I had a real person airbrush me, it was embarrassing and I felt out of place. I mean, an unskinny person getting a spray tan? – Nuff said, but It looks awesome, so I’m glad I had the strength to carry on. Infact, I had a friend doing it with me, so it was double awkward and double the sexy. {{wink}}

I have been learning to run. Well, I haven’t actually ran yet. I have a serious fear of falling off the treadmill and would prefer to do it a little lighter. If I do it now, it would end up on youtube. I have done a brisk walk at 3.5 mph and am working my way up.

I hear, I should be doing inches and not going of weight, is this true? I miss coffee and pizza, but the addiction of the gym is setting in and I LOVE it!

    How did I miss this post? Way to go! I am also unskinny, not fit but also NOT coordinated! So I totally get the difficulty of Zumba and give everyone who goes to the class credit! I love your idea of the brisk walk to work your way up to running. I would also love to run a little but I think I would need to tap on the hand rails…I mean that’s what they are there for right ;-). Keep it up! SO proud of you.

    It completely depends what you’re going for as far as inches and weight. If you’re really feeling that you’re unfit, then, you’re probably right, you should be looking at inches. Really, it doesn’t hurt to measure both. Also, don’t forget that the fitter you are, the more calories you burn at rest. Good luck.:)

    I have friends that swear by Zumba. But for me, I just keep imagining my fat self tripping and squishing one of those happy skinny bitches that never seems to sweat. ha! So for now, my wellness journey is also about eating right and mving more. Maybe one day, I’ll Zumba.
